1661 - Issac Newton was admitted as a student Trinity College, Cambridge

1806 - Batavian Republic became of Kingdom of Holland
1849 - Denmark became a constitutional monarchy

1915 - Denmark amended its constitution to allow women's suffrage
1933 - Gold standard was abolished
1953 - Denmark adopted a new constitution
1959 - The first government of State of Singapore was sworn in.
1979 - Seychelles adopted constitution
1981 - TODAY/PC runs for the first time


Birthday -

Scottish economist and philosopher Adam Smith (1723-1790).  He wrote An Enquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations, published in 1776. The book described the workings of a market economy and established him as one of the most influential figures in the development of modern economic theory.

British economist John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946). He wrote The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money in 1936, stating his ideas about government responsibility and commitment to maintaining high employment. He claimed that business investors and governments, not consumers, were the source of business cycle shifts.
