1649 - Massacre of Drogheda, Ireland
1893 - First Conference of World Parliament of Religions was held.
1906 - Mahatma Gandhi used the term "Satyagraha" to characterize the Non-Violence movement, that he started in South Africa.
1946 - 1st mobile long-distance car-to-car telephone conversation
1986 - Dow Jones Industrial Avg suffered biggest 1-day decline till that year, plummeting 86.61 points to 1,792.89. 237.57 million shares traded.





2001 - Terrorists attack on Buildings of USA using Aeroplanes
Two passenger planes hijacked by terrorists crashed into New York's World Trade Towers causing the collapse of both & death of 2,752 people. Terrorists hijacked another passenger plane and crashed it into the Pentagon causing the death of 125 people. Attempt by passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 to retake control of their hijacked plane from terrorists caused the plane to crash in Pennsylvania field killing all 64 people onboard

1917 Ferdinand Marcos (1917-1989) was born in Sarrat, Philippines. He ruled the Philippines from 1966, imposing an authoritarian regime until he was ousted in 1986.
