1768 – The first edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica is published.
1865 – The Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified, banning slavery.
1877 - Washington Post publishes 1st edition
1884 – The Washington Monument in Washington D.C. is completed. It took almost 50 years for its completion.

1922 - 1st electric power line commercial carrier in US, Utica, NY
1923 - 1st US Presidential address broadcast on radio by President Calvin Coolidge

1992 – The Babri Mosque in Ayodhya (Birth place of Rama, an avatar of Vishnu), India was demolished by agitating mob.
2006 – NASA revealed photographs taken by Mars Global Surveyor suggesting the presence of liquid water on Mars.
